You’ll need to be hands on and ready to get dirty as our everyday activities include feeding the animals, cleaning and maintaining the enclosures, preparing of meat and meals, exercising the animals and monitoring their behaviour, checking the fences, bird watching and feeding, grooming and caring for the horses and the building of any new enclosures.

We, at Lion and Cheetah Sanctuary are passionate about conservation, rehabilitation and release of animals. You will learn about the importance of the above, while still caring for the animals that cannot be released back into the wild and supplying them with the enrichment they need for their psychological and physiological well being. You will get to know the animals and discover that each one is different, they have their own personality as well as likes and dislikes and each needs to be treated accordingly to ensure their happiness and well-being.

With us it is not only about work but getting to know our beloved country. You will be exposed to the South African culture and we can assist volunteers, and recommend tour operators, to plan and visit surrounding areas such as the neighbouring game reserve, which is home to Africa’s Big Five (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo),The Kruger National Park, Pilanesburg (a national wildlife park), The City of Pretoria (South Africa’s Capital City), Gold Reef City, Apartheid Museum, and so much more.
 
Although we all work very hard, the volunteers and staff always find time to enjoy themselves around the Braai (BBQ), laze around the pool and catch a South African tan or sit out at night where one can hear the lions roar and hyenas laugh. On winter nights you can snuggle up next to the blazing fireplace and watch wildlife documentaries or old favourites such as the Lion King.
 
Whether traveling in a group or alone we will ensure you have an unforgettable experience. So, if you want to spend your days amongst animals, get some sun, get your hands a little dirty but be totally satisfied at the end of each day, Lion and Cheetah Sanctuary is the place for you!
